Christmas is over

We had a wonderful Christmas. Our two children and their spouses and our Grandson Alex all spent the night Christmas eve. So it was the first Christmas in ages we have all been together. Lyle and I got about 1 and 1/2 hours sleep, and( I had a cold so I think it didn't help me much, I have continued being sick ever since, today is the 28th. I have showered today, and that was good. I feel a little bit better.)
We gave our kids, essentials this Christmas, some food, laundry stuff, TP, Papertowels, etc. The funny part was Deidra said Christmas Eve if we were giving her Food Storage she was going to be mad....guess she got bit in the but for that comment. LOL.....she said she loved it becuz it wasn't traditional food storage...it was more customized by the things they use and need. Still it made it fun to know she had said that and wah lah...she was right....
We went to Aunt Tanyas for Breakfast Christmas morning and saw a lot of the Harper family, and were able to celebrate with them. Then we napped and went to Jolene's for dessert with the Goodman side of the family. Not too many showed up but we always love seeing our nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters. It was great to see Alan's family as well. They feel like our family too. I couldn't have chosen a better sister.
I will download pictures and expand this week more. Hope whomever reads this had a wonderful Christmas also....and starts the new year out with hope and faith...for a great new year!

December 6th, 2008

I am up and atom, sort of ..it's 8:20 Saturday morning, and I am not even dressed. I have been visiting the emails, facebook, and now the blogs...
We had our weight loss group yesterday, my little sister is the only person who lost weight, and the rest of us all added to our lovely figures...lol...good thing we check in so we are at least aware of what we are doing, not that I am doing fabulous, but it might help me not gain too much back.
I didn't get much done yesterday, we went through the cargo container, our version of a storage room, and looked for the missing Christmas items...and we found most of them, and a bunch of other stuff to look through. I have a bunch of cow figurines and frogs that I have collected through the years that I will be listing on Craigs list soon. I figure that is better than my poor family inheriting the worry. Back to Christmas, I apparently have lost several things, like my Grandmother crocheted me a tree skirt...it's missing, we have ornaments that have vanished off the face of the earth.
Then, of course, I was so on the ball that last year, as in 2007 I knew I had my day group bunko at my house for Christmas, and so I went to "Cracker Barell" for lunch with family and friends and I found the cutest Christmas mugs for like 75 cents a piece and thought these will be the perfect parting gift...yes, you are right they have dissapeared out of the cargo container also. I thought I was so clever, I marked the box, 2008 Christmas bunko prizes...and now - poof- they are gone...that means I get to go shopping and well, how will I ever find a cool deal like that now....sad isn't it.
I still am working on decorating, I have piles on my counter, on my table, on the floor, in my room....ahhhhhhhhhh! The mess is HUGE...so I guess I should get busy...it's just hard to look at without getting overwhelmed.....alas this is Christmas....(sounds like a song) Anyway, it will be great when it is done...so here I go...I will let you know if I ever finish...

December 4th, 2008

Okay, I am such a moron...I can't remember how to get into my blog for the life of me...I know bookmark it...sometimes I am soooo slow!
I have been a little down and so I haven't written...but today I am getting around to decorating and am so excited. Our family went and cut down trees on Saturday after Thanksgiving. We had a lot of fun, it was Amron & Brooke, Lyle and I, and Betty Jo..she's our niece/daughter...she doesn't live with us, but is very close and so she is like a daughter. We had so much fun, it was a long day, it took us about 4 hours to pick up 6 trees....crazy times....and cold. The girls ended up spending most of the day in the pick up...until we couldn't "hold" it any longer and had to make yellow snow and freeze our backsides off...Haha ... (I heard that Jolene) Even that ended up great...we found the last tree that way...
I need to get busy, but I am doing great, and excited to have Christmas...and spend time with family and friends...that's all for now...

Friday November 28, 2008

Thanksgiving was great, we got to see family that we haven't seen for awhile...the food amazing.....and I love seeing all my nieces and nephews.
Today though, I am sad, I didn't get to see either of my own children, they were off doing their own things, and well, it was very empty without them even though I had a good time visiting with "my" family.
I have the cutest Mom ever, she doesn't hear very well, so she sits around and laughs and smiles when other people laugh, even though she has no clue...she is such a sweetheart....
I always love being around my sister Jolene, her hubby, Alan, and their kids. They have trully amazing children...
Lonny was his usual pill, and Lisa the busy busy hostess. I hardly saw their children, cuz they were off doing the cousin thing...
Kenny, Ling, and Shane ...it was great to see them...Kenny is my older brother, and he married one of my "campfire girl" friends from elementary school. I really love reminiscing with them. Shane is their oldest child, and he is a hoot. He is fun to talk with, he's single, and in his late 30's...maybe the family should try to hook him up with someone. Their daughter, Joy, and her daughter, Ora at home in Oregon. They don't come to AZ. very often, Joy has decided she really does not like it here.
I have dishes to do from Thanksgiving because I wanted everything to be fresh, and I went to my sil...Tanya's to play games last night. She and I played Perquacky...it's an old word game and we love it. We were going to play games with all of our older children but apparently they all found better things to do..well, all I have are older children but she still has 4 young sons at home. She adopted them from a distant relative who lost them through the court systems because of a drug addiction...I will share that story another time.

I best go, I have lots to do...and well this could turn into my life story if I am not careful. So it's dishes for me.

November 26th 2008

Today, I worked in the office for awhile, ended up going to get 2 diet cokes....so maybe I am addicted after all.
My VT came on Tuesday and it was great, I ended up getting the house in order and it looks wonderful...what a boost! They gave a great lesson from Saturday's session from Brother Wurthlin (sp)...I recommend reading it...

I am supposed to be making pies right now. I just have such a hard time with the crusts that I am putting it off, like that makes it any easier. What would you do?
Tomorrow I will not be writing..it's Thanksgiving. I hope anyone who reads this will have the most grateful, and appreciated day ever.
We, my dear hubby and I are going to be with my side of the family this year. I am making rolls tomorrow and pies today. My children have chosen other families to spend the day with. Deidra will come play games during the evening with Tanya's family. That has become one of the few traditions we uphold. Tanya has Rook cards for us to play "Nertz"... it can be a wild and crazy game if enough people show up to make it fun! If not we will end up playing word games, my favorite, and a good stand by.

I am blessed with the fact Lyle isn't necessarily into sports. He does love to work though...as long as it is the work he loves....ya know what I mean.

That's all I am going to start my pies, and probably dinner...

Tuesday November 25th #2

So far nothing exciting has happened. Deidra isn't feeling well. Lisa wants to use some of the wedding things for Thanksgiving. I am still doing laundry. I wasted a lot of time today. My VT are coming at 7pm... I guess we should be happy they are coming right..... and that's my day in a nutshell...

Tuesday November 25th

Well, I started my morning with a run to Sonic for a diet coke with my s.i.l. Tanya....it's our daily routine. I believe we are at the point of addiction and that part is pretty scary to me. We really only go Monday through Thursday. I guess that isn't exactly an addiction, but close.
Today, I am going to continue cleaning up after the wedding. I still have stuff to go through and things to return. When you beg and borrow you have to pay the price. Deidra decided to go with all clear glass dishes and serving dishes, even clear serving utensils. So we are now the proud owners of 78 clear glass plates, salad plates, and glasses. We have about 100 fall napkins. And 13 brown round tablecloths and 5 rectangular ones. So we are set to have a gigantic Feast. We could host a ward party and furnish all the decorations. Maybe my next calling will be activities chairman....lol....that's a joke not a request...I like teaching Sunbeams.
I will report on my progress later...

Friday, November 21st

Today I decided after listening to all my friends, that I too should start a blog. I don't have the time but I think many people have the right idea for journaling their lives.
Today is the first day of watching my grandson Alex, (to your right) while his parents spend the week-end in Las Vegas. In the picture he is wearing his Papo's shoes. He is 14 months old and they don't come much cuter than he. He is napping and that is why I have a second to get this started.
His parents were married on Monday and we are thrilled to finally be a complete family. (That's them on the top left.)
Papo-Lyle ( under Alex) is my husband of 31 years, we have two children. Deidra the one who just married. Amron who was married in July. (lower left picture) Amron and his wife, Brooke are expecting their first child in April, we are all very excited for them. Monday they will have their first sonagram, and hopefully we will find out the sex of the child. Amron is really excited to become a father.
